Apparently not. I feel bad for What the Fact now.
Coca-Cola was never in green. Well, the famous bottle technically was.
Although the formula changes as time flies, Coke was never sold in a green color. The caramel cola has always been sold in its well-known dark brown shade.
Here’s to happiness…

Hey, kiddos of the internet. I’m back with another urban legend to bust.
So I’ve encountered this a while back. There is a claim that you can ride an elevator without stopping.
I’ve tried this myself with the elevator in school yesterday, and it doesn’t work. Most elevators don’t do this at all.
The close button doesn’t really do anything except close the doors if they’re open, unless the key to the elevator is inserted.
Also, did anybody ever bother to notice that the elevator in this picture doesn’t have any floors with a 4 in it? That’s because according to Chinese cultures, the sound of 4 in Chinese sounds like “death”. Bad luck.

Was Rizal Jack the Ripper?

Happy birthday, doc.

As a gift, here’s a ridiculous myth I’d like to bust about our beloved national hero, Dr. José Protasio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda, better known as Dr. Jose Rizal.

During one of his trips in Europe, the Jack the Ripper murders were happening. By the time he left England, the killings stopped.

Rizal was in London from May 1888 to January 1889, in the British Library copying “Sucesos de las islas Filipinas” by hand because there were no photocopying machines at the time. Jack the Ripper was active around this time, and since we do not know what Rizal did at night or on the days he was not in the library, some people would like to believe Rizal is suspect. They argue that when Rizal left London, the Ripper murders stopped. They say that Jack the Ripper must have had some medical training, based on the way his victims were mutilated. Rizal, of course, was a doctor. Jack the Ripper liked women, and so did our own Rizal. And — this is so obvious that many overlooked it — Jose Rizal’s initials match those of Jack the Ripper!

But up to this day, no one really knows who Jack the Ripper was. It’s like he disappeared into thin air. But as much as Jack’s description goes, Rizal checks out (Jack was described to be somewhere between 5’5”—5’11”, fair to pale complexion, and sporting a bushy mustache). Rizal was pretty much sane enough not to commit such elegant killings. Therefore…

Myth Busted.

Anonymous asked: Is it safe to shower during a thunderstorm?

It has the ring of an urban legend and seems too bizarre to be true. But the claim that taking a shower during a lightning storm can electrocute you is no old wives’ tale, experts say.

The basis of the claim is that a bolt of lightning that hits a house or building — even one that is protected against severe weather — can travel through plumbing, into metal pipes, and shock anyone who comes into contact with a faucet or appliance.

Metal pipes are not only excellent conductors of electricity, but they also carry tap water laden with impurities that help conduct electrical current.

In the real world, the odds of being harmed this way are extremely minute. But it is not unheard of. Ron Holle, a former meteorologist with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration who tracks lightning injuries, estimates that 10 to 20 people in the United States are shocked annually while bathing, using faucets or handling appliances during storms. “There are a ton of myths about lightning,” he said, “but this is not one of them.”

In a storm, a protected building acts somewhat like a metal cage. Electricity from a lightning strike is conducted around you and eventually dissipates into the ground. There is no real risk unless you touch something connected to plumbing, electrical wiring or another conducting path.

Dr. Mary Ann Cooper, who runs the Lightning Injury Research Program at the University of Illinois at Chicago, said people had been shocked and even killed washing dishes, doing laundry and sitting in bathtubs in storms. A database of these incidents is online at struckbylightning.org.

THE BOTTOM LINE

Lightning can travel through plumbing and shock people.

cozydaydreams asked: Hi, I have a post on the contrary to the Mariah Carey rumour. Please help me reblog, thank you! :)

http://lookingin.tumblr.com/post/640751240

Way ahead of you, broseph. Look back at my first posts, it disproves the fact that Mariah’s racist. And like I said, it would be weird since she’s married to Nick Cannon.

Anonymous asked: I'd like to ask whether Stephenie Meyer stole the twilight thingo from her room mate in college?

Imma go ignore the fact that this is Twi-fcuking-light we’re talking about here.

The allegations were never really brought to court, despite what the rumor claims.

Anonymous asked: How about the one where Winnie the Pooh was based on a bunch of psychological disorders? False, i hope?

Well, Pooh and the gang are not really based on psychological disorders.

It’s more of an analysis from a study made by the psycho-logists Canadian Medical Association. LOL
